MA1040 – Worksheets

Hi folks,

I’m away from my computer for the next couple of days and didn’t get a chance to get the MA1040 worksheets finished and posted before heading out of town. I’ll have them posted sometime Monday night, but in the meantime, if you’re looking to do some practice, click the link to the E-text on the course webpage. The unit we’re testing on Wednesday is unit 1 in that text (not unit 0, unit 1!) and at the end of each section there are plenty of review problems. You’ll also find a comprehensive review at the end of the unit that would be good test prep.

Mid Term Break and Tuesday’s (Feb 6th) Labs

Hi folks,

Just a reminder that Feb 2nd and 5th are holidays, ie. our mid term break… enjoy them! We’ll be taking a week off labs with my PH1050 and SN2140 groups as well, so the labs that would normally go ahead on Tuesday, Feb. 6th, will not go ahead. We have tons of time in the semester to get the labs done so we can afford to take a week off.

Today’s Labs

Hi folks,

Hopefully you all got the cancellation emails from the College system; if not, make sure you sign up for the system in order to get class cancellation notices. Given the weather, I’ve cancelled the labs in order to give you guys less incentive to get yourselves killed on the roads, or at the very least, to allow you time to dig out for your later classes. Labs will continue as planned from here on in.

I am on campus if you need me for anything.

Welcome back for the Winter 2018 Semester!

Hi folks,

Welcome back to students new and old. I’m assuming that most of my students this semester will be unfamiliar with me and my methods so we’ll be sure to go over things in class. In the meantime, this blog will be your source for notes and materials so be sure to try logging on to your class webpage ASAP. Links to all current classes can be found on the right hand side menu.

PH1051 and PH1201 Labs (including today’s!)

Hi folks,

Just a quick update: we’re going to start labs next week instead of this week, for both my PH1051 and my PH1201 groups. With my absence on Thursday of last week, we didn’t get quite as much accomplished in either class as I’d like and I’d like to ensure we get a chunk of material covered before heading into the lab.

Hope this doesn’t inconvenience anyone too drastically. Enjoy your couple of hours of free time!

PH1050 and PH1051 tutorial sessions

Hi folks,

As discussed, there will be tutorials offered next week for any students who would like some last minute help with the physics. Monday, April 17th, from 12:30 – 1:30 and again from 3:00 – whenever students are done, we’ll be doing the PH1050 tutorial… I had originally planned to be there from 12:30 – 4:30 but I have an exam invigilation from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm so that will break up the session. To make up for that I’ll stay late if any students want me to. Tuesday, April 18th from 12:30 – 4:30 we’ll do the PH1051 tutorial. Both tutorials will be held in the Physics lab at the end of the F-block, F-213.

The schedule, in short:
PH1050 – Monday, April 17th – 12:30 – 1:30, 3:00 – end
PH1051 – Tuesday, April 18th – 12:30 – 4:30
